Baptist Health and Interfaith Council of Jacksonville Offer Free Public Forum on Health and Faith
"Health and Faith: Loving Neighbor and Self" to Explore Collaboration among Diverse Faith Traditions

Jacksonville, Florida, March 23, 2010 -- For centuries, faith traditions have been integrally involved in the advancement of community health and wholeness.

To increase awareness of the multiple faith traditions involved in providing health care, and to explore possibilities for enhancing interfaith collaboration, Baptist Health and the Interfaith Council of Jacksonville are co-sponsoring "Health and Faith: Loving Neighbor and Self."

This free public education forum will take place on Tuesday, May 11, from 7 to 9 pm at Baptist Medical Center Downtown in the Doctor's Dining Room on the eighth floor of the Tower.

Panelists will include healthcare professionals from diverse faith traditions in our community. The forum will feature comments from each panelist, followed by ample time for small group discussions about possibilities for further collaboration among faith traditions and the healthcare community.

Scheduled panelists include:

  • Diane Raines, Chief Nursing Officer, Baptist Health
  • Dr. Vicki Findley, Medical Director, Volunteers in Medicine
  • Dr. Umi Eyyunni, otolaryngologist, Indo-American Medical Association
  • Renee Pollard, Executive Director, Agape Community Health Center
  • Suzanne Riedel, CSB, Christian Science practitioner, lecturer and teacher
  • Mary Alice Phelan, Director of Community Relations, St. Vincent's Medical Center
  • Facilitating the public forum will be Lynn Sherman, director of Community Health, Baptist Health, and Ed Wilder, senior chaplain, Baptist Medical Center South

    This forum is free and open to the public, with a special invitation to local healthcare professionals, clergy and laypersons from all faith traditions.
