From the Doctor
Everyone has their own story. I grew up the last of 11 kids. My father died of a stroke at an early age and my mom struggled with diabetes. I had a nephew die from sickle-cell disease. I developed an interest in treating preventable diseases, to protect families from unnecessary losses, to help people and families stay healthy.
I feel that most of the things we deal with as primary care physicians are preventable, so it's important to teach and stress that to patients. I really enjoy talking to my patients, and helping them. I want my patients to learn what they need to do to stay healthy, and prevent or manage chronic diseases through lifestyle changes, diet and exercise.
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy listening to jazz music, watching sports, playing basketball, or running.
