From the Doctor
I am also a Sunday school teacher and a preacher, and I want my patients to see me as an adviser, an advocate and a friend whom they can approach with any questions or concerns they may have. To keep my patients and the community informed about health issues, I've lectured about high blood pressure, allergies and nutrition.
I like to use a team-based approach with my patients, and work together to set the agenda for their office visit. I encourage them to write down what they want to talk about and tell me if they have any concerns. There is no single correct way of treating a patient, so I engage them in exploring their options and together we come up with a solution that fits.
My time outside of the office is spent with my family. My wife and I have four children, and I volunteer as a den leader for Boy Scouts. I'm also a member of the Christian Medical Association, and I enjoy camping, running, cooking and photography.
