Our Services - Baptist Primary Care
Maybe you've always thought that if you're feeling good, you don't need to make a doctor's appointment. We'd like you to consider the advantages of establishing a relationship with a primary care doctor before you need one. Instead of worrying about where to go and what to do when you are sick or injured, you can have your own "medical home" set up with a physician you know and who knows you.
Annual Checkup
Preventive Health Guidelines
The following charts provide age and gender specific recommendations for various forms on preventive screening, counseling and immunization schedules from various trusted, independent sources.
It's important to see your primary care doctor at least once a year for an annual checkup. At this visit, your doctor will perform a series of preventive screening tests to detect any health issues early when they're easiest to treat and to make sure that you're current on any immunizations. The doctor may also counsel you on any lifestyle changes designed to minimize potential health risks. Most insurance companies will cover the entire cost of this visit.
Routine Care
During the course of the year, there are times when we all need routine care. You may need a prescription to overcome an infection or to be immunized for specific diseases in advance of international travel. You may need a back to school physical or minor surgery to remove a wart. Your primary care physician is there to help you feel better and to get you on your way.
Chronic Care
If you have a chronic condition, your primary care doctor is trained to help you manage that condition. In some cases, your doctor may refer you to a specialist and together they will co-manage your condition. Baptist Health offers more than 1,400 respected specialists and a wide array of services that support and enhance your health.

Hospitalization
If you need to be hospitalized, a dedicated team of hospitalists provides round the clock coverage at each of the Baptist Health hospitals. A hospitalist is a physician specialist who is trained in internal medicine or family medicine, and whose practice is focused only on providing hospital medicine. The hospitalist acts as a "partner" with your primary care physician during your hospital stay, providing regular communication about your condition and treatment plan. Baptist Health's Hospitalist Program is unique in that we provide the only hospital-based physician service with 24-hour, seven-day-a-week coverage.
